1980:
George and Dorothy Martin were looking to purchase a building in downtown Lake Geneva, WI. They found the perfect one, but it came with a condition. The only way the couple who owned the building would sell, was if the Martin family also purchased the office supply business that was already in it. They approached their son Patrick Martin about buying the business, he agreed, and Martin Office Supply was born.
1985:
Patrick talked with his brother, Brian Martin, about the need for a local typewriter repair service. Brian attended typewriter repair school and started a new company, Martin Office Equipment.
1991:
Martin Office Equipment merged with Martin Office Supply and both companies came under the Martin Office Supply name.
1993:
The new Martin Office Supply continued to grow, and in 1993 moved into a bigger building located on the north side of Lake Geneva.
1996:
To emphasize the increasing role of office equipment sales and service, the company changed its name to Martin Business Group in 1996 and sold off the office supply portion of the business.
1998:
A brand-new corporate headquarters was opened on the east side of Lake Geneva in 1998, where we are located to this day.
1999:
A major milestone occurred with John Stensland joining the company as a third partner and co-owner (and unofficial third Martin brother). The three of them were known as the "Three Amigos".
2000:
Martin Business Group became a Konica dealer and has sold their award-winning line-up of desktop printers, multifunction office systems, and production print machines for the past 14 years.
2005:
Martin Group celebrated 25 years of being in business
2006:
We won our first Konica Minolta national Pro-Tech service certification award in 2006, the first year we were eligible for the program. Only 5% of Konica Minolta dealers and direct operations receive this award each year. We have been repeat winners every year since.
2007:
The Martin brothers decided the time had come to retire. John Stensland became the sole owner and President, and continued our commitment to the principles of exceptional client service and ethical business practices which we were founded on.
2008:
A Martin Group Technicians a Gold Seal service award from Konica Minolta. The Gold Seal award is the highest recognition Konica Minolta presents to students that attend a certified training course. The awards are extremely difficult to achieve and require special recognition from the course. Martin Group has been recognized with Multiple Gold & Silver Seals since.
2009:
Martin Group is first recognized as an Elite Dealer by Office Dealer Magazine.
2010:
We celebrated our 30th anniversary in 2010. Marking the event with a new name, Martin Group, and a new tagline, driven by people, which represents our commitment to both our family of clients and our exceptional staff.
2011:
We were selected as the inaugural winner of the National Elite Dealer of the Year award from The Week in Imaging.
2015:
This marked ten straight times that we have won Konica Minolta's prestigious Pro-Tech Service Award.
2016:
In 2016 Martin Group was named the top dealer for Production Print over every other dealer of our size, nationwide.
